Seven days before presenting a budget to our organization's board of directors I attended a Vancouver Business Network event where Graham Best was presenting this course live. While I had met a number of people of varying ages including seniors at the event - before his talk that night - who were extolling the benefits in memory retention they have gotten taking his courses and reading his books - I must admit I thought it likely wouldn't apply to the kinds of things I do or it might be like speed reading courses used to be - short lived. Over the next six days preceding our board meetings last week as I worked with senior staff to finalize the budget presentation I noticed an immediate significant improvement in my recall of numbers that extended back in time. To that point all I had done was join the participants in Graham Best's 45 minute presentation practicing his techniques. Normally as I fly east from Vancouver to Toronto, I spend the entire flight plus the evening on recalling the key numbers and comparisons. Instead, on that trip with the Vice Chair sitting beside me we spoke little on that topic - but focused on the policy proposals we 'd be voting on. To top it all off as I looked back to the times last summer when I was getting books from the library on brain and memory techniques and doing all those exercises that only improved my unused skill in puzzles I realize that none of what I had spent a lot of time on were as practical as that which Graham provides in workshops that work.
